Jiobit has been named one of the winners of the 17th annual Chicago Innovation Awards. Out of 519 nominees, Jiobit was selected as one of the winners of this year's Up-and-Comer Award, being recognized as a rising star in Chicago. In addition to winning this award, Jiobit has also secured three new patents** for its Progressive Beaconing location technology which are already featured in their shipping products. The three software patents speak to the company's commitment to innovation around location-based technology, and are the first in a growing portfolio that will greatly expand over the next three years.
"519 organizations were nominated for this year's awards," said Luke Tanen, Executive Director of the Chicago Innovation Awards. "As a group, these nominees generated over $3.4 billion in new revenues from their new products and services, along with the creation of over 432 patents. The 25 winners represent the best from this very impressive group."
Jiobit's first product, the smallest and longest lasting real-time location tracker for kids, was inspired after Founder and CEO, John Renaldi lost his then 6-year-old son at Maggie Daley Park in Chicago. Jiobit started shipping this year and it is now being used by thousands of families across all 50 states. Jiobit's solution for families is only the beginning of where the team will take this patented location tracking technology. Within the family use cases, Jiobit plans to re-launch Jiobit for Pets and also target runners, senior market, and families with children who have special needs, bringing peace of mind to millions. Beyond that will be enterprise solutions in 2019.
"As every parent knows, losing track of a child in a busy Chicago area is terrifying. It was just a split second that I took my eyes off of my son, and he was gone," said Renaldi. "We are committed to increasing safety standards for children in Chicago and around the world by continuing to advance our technology and service offerings. We are delighted to accept this award and have the support from our local community."
All winners were announced at an event held at Chicago's Harris Theater on Monday, October 29, with nearly 1,500 business and civic leaders, and supporters of innovation in attendance. The Chicago Innovation Awards, celebrating its 17th year, is the Chicago region's foremost recognition of the most innovative new products or services brought to market each year. The winning organizations receive a variety of honors including the opportunity to ring the Nasdaq Bell in New York City, and meetings with the Mayor, Governor and Cook County President.
